My Date Night – No Kids, No Kid Talk, No Problem!

I love my kids, really.

I also love being without my kids, really.

So Big Daddy P went on our Project Marriage Date Night last weekend (thanks grandma and grandpa)!

I wore these totally cute new heels that I bought at the Nine West outlet for $30.  I figured I better break them in before BlogHer, because I loooove them.

We decided to go to our favorite Persian restaurant because they have the best food ever – food our kids would totally hate (so you know it’s good).  Besides, this restaurant has linens and cloth napkins so you know we were doing it all classy-style.

I reminded Big Daddy P no kid talk which he replied, “No problem!”

I tweeted a bit. #Ihadto #projectmarriage #datenight

We started talking about work (ahem, NOT my favorite subject) and I called a time-out.  This is date night, not gripe about the crap sitting on my desk night.

Soon the food came.

We talked about good food and how lucky we’d be to eat like this every day.

Big Daddy P started talking about cycling which is usually a total snoozefest but I found myself really listening because that’s what good wives do, at least in the movies anyway.  He’d just shaved his legs the night before so I figured his ego needed the lift.  We talked about BlogHer and the 2 totally expensive dresses I just bought from ModCloth that I couldn’t afford.  He told me I looked pretty (aww) so I gave him a smooch.  He told me I looked pretty again (just to get another smooch) so laughed and didn’t give it to him just because I like to act complicated and Jolie-like sometimes.

We talked about Project Marriage, carmageddon and getting rid of all the crap in our garage.  The convo wasn’t romantic but it didn’t need to be, it was us being real and having fun.  And it was good.

More glorious food came.  We stopped talking.

Instead we ate.  And ate.  And ate.  And shared food.  And ate some more.

My heart (and belly) were very, very happy.

This is what I look like with a full mouth.

After dinner, Bid Daddy P suggested we go visit our old house just for old time’s sake.  I thought the idea was way romantic.

Mommy Friends, date night was perfect.  On the way home we listened to silence – a rare and lovely treat and we held hands, it was really sweet.  I hope we have the opportunity to do it again very soon!

  1. What an awesome date night you had! 🙂

  2. Aw! So very sweet! Can’t wait to see you next week. xo

  3. Looks like you guys had a very sweet time. Sometimes just going to Target with my husband without the kids is a break, even though it really isn’t a “date night.” You got to take what you can get sometimes. We plan on movie night this weekend, so we’ll see! We try to implement taking a shot everytime we talk about the kids, but that doesn’t always go very well!
