  1. Great post! Being patient is so important to helping a struggling reader. The last thing you want is for them to get frustrated with themselves. They learn patience from you! This article had a lot of great tips for working with children who need help reading. As for choosing a book on your child’s level, the best thing is to teach them how to select their own books. The 5 finger rule is usually a great way to teach children to choose appropriate books for themselves.
