Road Rules, Family Style

Spring break Baby!  Oh heck yeah!  [Record scratch]  Sorry, I thought it was 1997 for a second.

Tequila, fist pumping and bad decisions aside, the Mommyfriend Family likes to bust out on our spring break and road trip it, family style.

Drive on over here for my 5 must haves for family road fun!

Safe travels Mommy Friends!

Long road trips for young children can be challenging but if you plan it right you can create some great summer memories. And with new slim tools like smart phones and ipads you can really save yourself a lot of valuable room in the car. Instead of lugging around puzzles and games with little pieces to loose (or eat depending on the child) now you just have to have some great apps loaded and ready to go. Only you know your child’s likes and dislikes and so might test out some kids games before you head out on your journey.

Some children love Legos and Lego Ninjago. There is a fun bubble popping game called Evil Sushi Squish that has ninjas. It is a great way for her to get out bottled up energy. Kids go to town tapping on the phone and getting to new ninja levels. It is a really great game for trips, and I’m sure there are many others out there.

Another thing you can do to prepare for a long drive is to go to the evilsushisquish.com web site and download the color sheets and activities like Evil Sushi Squish tic tac toe.

So one thing I see is that app games are becoming broader based and lots of them have web pages with extended activities. But this goes back to repetition and how children can hear the same story over and over and never tire of it. You just have to find the right story or game.

Hope this helps other parents who are about to take that summer car trip.

  2. Great tips. Beef jerky is always a road trip necessity!

  3. What a cute picture! Where are you off to! Read you great article but was unable to comment there.

  4. Awesome! We are preparing to take our first ever road trip with SB in a couple of weeks. Thanks for the tips. 🙂
