We spent a lot of time this summer at the beach and aren’t we so lucky that we could! We totally get cabin fever in the worst way staring at the same walls and juice-stained carpet. So when the boys can’t seem to stop fighting and whining, sometimes a little fresh air, some sunshine and a gorgeous change of scenery are just what we need.
We’re lucky enough to be within driving distance to the beach so Big Daddy P and I like to pack up the SUV with a couple of coolers and a couple of kids and head toward the water where it’s about 15 degrees cooler and a heckuva lot more beautiful.
We spent our summer hunting for beach parking and sea shells, poking seaweed with sticks and snacking on junk food – and it was good. We even buried Boy Wonder in sand up to his neck and made pathetic sandcastles we were proud to call our own.
Aside from my freakish anxiety about BooBoo getting swept up in a monster wave, there’s just something about being in the beach air with my kids that makes me feel incredibly happy. Maybe it’s the size of the giant ocean, or the smile on my kids’ faces or maybe it’s just being outside of my messy house that feels so good to my soul.
So often we forget to just stop and experience the blessings of our family and I’m thankful for having the chance to do just that this summer. As my boys played in the ocean I took a mental picture for safe keeping. No matter how big and strong my boys become, they’ll always be the kids who dug for buried treasure this summer at the beach with Kool-Aid lips and delirious smiles.
I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.
We LOVE going to the beach. It’s not California beaches by any means…but they are beaches to us. As a child I used to always find peace at the beach. As an adult I still do.
What I love about the beach the most is that there is always something new to discover each time you visit. The waves have washed something onto the shore that is different from last time, the tides might be out so you get to explore a new area. There’s always new creatures to see. LOVE the beach!
I’m glad you were able to make so many wonderful memories at the beach this summer. Your boys will no doubt always remember them!
How awesome that you live so close to the ocean! We vacationed at the Texas gulf coast this year. Something about the sea air is different. More carefree? Something. Looks like you had a wonderful time.
