Last year I wrote a post about my first experience with an internet troll. It blindsided me, like whoa.
As I got a little most used to the abuse (how sad), I wrote a follow-up post about The Comment Bully.
Since then I’ve continued to witness the unbelievable abuse of bloggers by those just jonesing for a fight. It’s sickening, saddening and more than anything, just plain rude.
My amazing friend Elizabeth of The Writer Revived is a true visionary for choosing to take action and launch The Mom Pledge. In her own words, “The Mom Pledge is about bloggers coming together to eradicate online bullying of moms by other moms.”
~The Mom Pledge~
I am a proud Mommy Blogger. I will conduct myself with integrity in all my blogging activities. I can lead by example.
I pledge to treat my fellow moms with respect. I will acknowledge that there is no one, “right” way to be a good Mom. Each woman makes the choices best for her family.
I believe a healthy dialogue on important issues is a good thing. I will welcome differing opinions when offered in a respectful, non-judgmental manner. And will treat those who do so in kind.
I stand up against online bullying. My blog is my space. I will not tolerate comments that are rude, condescending or disrespectful.
I refuse to give those who attack a platform. I will remove their remarks from my blog with no mention or response. I can take control.
I want to see moms work together to build one another up, not tear each other down. Words can be used as weapons. I will not engage in that behavior.
I affirm that we are a community. As a member, I will strive to foster goodwill among moms. Together, we can make a difference.
Pretty powerful stuff don’t you think? Join me in proudly taking the pledge by clicking here and choosing to use our powers for good. Ain’t no stopping us now.
Well said! Heading over to check out The Mom Pledge site.

I just started a new blog-like yesterday!-about my family’s upcoming move to Holland and I love this! People seem to get all razzed up over anything…I think this is a declaration that the nut jobs will be talking to themselves, so may as well not try to stir it up. And awesome way to turn a negative into a positive.
Welcome to blogland! I am really excited to follow your story so keep us updated!
Always enjoy your blog and positive attitude!! Too many times I have seen the negatives and am happy to see you promoting what we can do for each other as we all try to make it through this crazy maze of mommyhood. Keep up the great work!!
Thank you Elizabeth. There is so much good we can do together and the sharing of ideas and information is what it’s all about!
GREAT idea! I think we should all band together. I’m so over those people who feel their opinion is the only right one and feel free to tell others that–in a rude and derrogatory manner. I think it just speaks to how weak their case is, though, when they have to resort to bullying to make a point. I heart you, MommyFriend!
Totally Mandy, have you joined yet? We need your saucy attitude to join our team.
You remind me I have to do this! Loving your new look 🙂
Woot, I love having you as part of our gang Tina!
Wow! I LOVE the new look! It’s fabulous! I remember your Comment Bully post, though I had forgotten you had that experience. I’m proud to have you as a member of our new community! Thank you so much for your support!
Elizabeth, I’m so proud of you and thrilled to be involved!
