Like most of you, taking a little “me-time” is something I have to remind myself to do. After all, we’re moms! Moms never seem to get a break, right? Well, shame on us!
I’ve finally learned that no one is ever going to give me permission to take a break. There will always be laundry, dishes and cleaning. If what I need is permission to slow down and regroup, then I need to give it to myself and learn to leave the guilt behind.
Everybody needs a little time to engage in whatever brings them joy and relaxation. Moms are the anchor of every family and when Mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy. However and whenever you can find a way to squeeze in a little me-time, just make sure to find it.
I find my me-time when the kids go off to bed. I enjoy watching bad reality TV while simultaneously tweeting, facebooking and drinking wine. If all that sounds like unrelaxing, I assure you, it works for me. The wine keeps it all calm y’all; different strokes.
Big Daddy P has learned not to talk to me during my me-time multitasking extravaganza; I earned the time. Once I’ve seen enough dramatic reality TV tears, RT’d myself into oblivion and finished that glass of wine, I’m a whole new me. The me who is ready to reassume the position of anchor of my family once again, or until tomorrow night anyway.
Remember to take your me-time Mommy Friends, you deserve it!

We’re big fans of regular early bedtimes here! 🙂 And, i’m looking forward to me weekly ‘me’ time this afternoon!! i get two lovely hours to myself every weekend – ahhh, it’s lovely!
Sleep doesn’t count at all!
If only we did get permission. Permission from the guilt of all that is left undone just to focus on ourselves. It doesn’t make us selfish, it makes us sane.
Target…alone…oh yeah. It’s so hard to carve out the time but so vital!
Amen to that sister!
We can have a Twitter or Skype party! That would be so fun!
Clink! Maybe someday we’ve get to engage in some “me-time” together and hang out!
Just what I’m doing tonight! Cheers!
I’m SO ready for a glass of wine! Great reminder for all the moms to take some time for themselves. Some night we should have a virtual wine party! 🙂
I’m SO ready for a glass of wine. Perhaps tonight! What is one of your favorites? I used to always drink Reisling but am now a fan of red and I believe a glass is calling my name! 🙂
Very important post! And great reminder to take time for ourselves! We deserve it! 🙂
I am really bad about taking “me” time. My husband travels during the week for work, so I have to meet the demands of 4 children all by myself! When James walked in from work last Friday, I took the keys & got the hell out of here! I just wondered around Target enjoying the fact that no one was asking me for aanything. Next time, I’m gonna try that wine thing!
Bedtime is my “recharge” time as well. I try to have all the tasks I need to complete finish by then so that when they’re out, I’m free to do whatever it is I WANT to do. Good advice, Mama. You’re right, nobody is going to give us permission save us.
Indeed it does not! Mani, pedi, GLO! You’ve got the right idea girl!
This reminds me, I have to schedule some time for myself…and sleep doesn’t count!
