It’s November and I wanted to write a deep and meaningful post on gratitude. But gratitude is pretty deep and since I seem to be playing in the shallow end today, I hereby offer my superficial take on gratitude.
~20 Things for which I am Superficially Thankful~
1. I’m thankful my parents invested their life savings to provide me with extreme orthodontia from ages 6-13. After 7 pulled teeth, 5 years of braces, a head gear, lingual arch and palatal arch, I can truly smile again.
2. I’m thankful for Zappos.com where I can purchase wide-width shoes in the privacy of my own home.
3. I’m thankful Big Daddy P is good at math because I am not smarter than a 3rd grader.
4. I’m thankful that daycare was able to potty train Little BooBoo way faster than I ever could.
5. I’m thankful for Spanx. Can I get an amen?
8. I’m thankful for On Demand, the ultimate babysitter when I need to make a phone call or prepare a meal.
9. I’m thankful I genuinely enjoy ’70’s easy listening because if I didn’t, banks, dental offices and grocery stores wouldn’t be half as fun.
10. I’m thankful for drive-thru anything. No one can appreciate the drive thru dairy, pharmacy, drive cleaners or Starbucks more than a Mommy Friend with kids in the back seat.
11. I’m thankful for my kids reintroducing me to the joys of goldfish crackers and fruit rollups.
12. I’m thankful for my smart phone so that I am never more than a touch-screen away from you.
13. I’m thankful for the crock pot, the working mother’s saving grace.
14. I’m thankful for the portable DVD player. How toddlers remained occupied on road trips, waiting rooms and restaurants before its invention I’ll never fully understand.
15. I’m thankful for the Sunday paper when it’s filled with coupons for things I actually buy.
16. I’m thankful for MAC Studio Tech in NW20.
17. I’m thankful for Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian (I know, right?) for being bootylicious like me.
18. I’m thankful for other people’s babies so I can ooo and aww all over them and then give them back.
19. I’m thankful that enough women in the workforce stopped wearing pantyhose so that I could.
20. I’m thankful that Target sells popcorn so that I may shop in peace with deliriously happy children.
What are you superficially thankful for?

Aaaah a delight to read – I feel more relaxed already :).
Think my vote on Babble or Blabber as Wiki keeps on calling it, just put you on the next page 🙂
I love posts like this! It’s the little silly things that matter. When my kids were little I was happy for Teddy Grahams. I’d feed them to the boys one at a time. Now I’m happy for frozen burritos!
I am thankful for your blog that puts a smile on my face daily and makes me realize that I am not alone.
I am thankful for so many of that too… especially the on demand cable, my smartphone, spanx and the death of pantyhose! Holla!
I love this post. Just think, we could have retired several years earlier from the interest alone accrued from the cost of your extreme orthodontia, LOL! I’m thankful for you and your beautiful SMILE!!!
AMEN sister!!
Classic. I can relate with every single one except for what seemed to be a real character building orthodontic experience for you. I was lucky from birth with that one. Straight teeth, that’s all. The character building came with a slew of my own embarrassing situations.
Can I just say that I’m thankful for at least half of the things on your list!I’d like to add Cheerio’s to that list as well because they allow me to get dinner ready without my little guy hanging on my leg fussing.
Great, fun post! 🙂
